ABOUT VERSUSVERSUS

VERSUSVERSUS is an editorial translation agency specialised in the visual arts and literary fields.

It was created by Nizza Santiago, french-mexican art historian and literary translator. She graduated in art history at the École du Louvre and holds a master’s degree from the Paris-Sorbonne University. For about fifteen years she worked in several museums, publishing content for all types of audiences. Her experience made her realise that specialised translation support in art history remained scarce, which prompted her to undertake training in literary translation.

Willing to participate in the spreading of printed and digital publications from the cultural field, and to help the circulation of new thoughts and ideas across linguistic borders, she decided to dedicate herself entirely to building bridges through words. She translates from English, French and Spanish, with French and Spanish as her target languages.
Her art history articles have been published in international journals such as Icomos, Histoire de l’art, Istor and IIE-UNAM. She has also edited numerous texts accompanying art exhibitions within the French Regional Contemporary Art Collections of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Franche-Comté. She has also written, adapted and translated numerous audioguide texts for the Picasso-Paris museum, produced by Soundgarden Audioguidance GmbH, Munich. She also collaborates with production firms based in France.

Translating is above all a matter of sharing. To nourish her practice and work in a spirit of openness and exchange, she has created the collaborative literary translation workshop that takes place once a month at Mexico’s Cultural Institute in Paris. She’s also a member of the French translator’s society (Sft), the ATAA and of the French and Mexican literary translation associations.
